"Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter," wins internationally recognized Adding Wisdom Award!(June 08, 2006) - The Parent to Parent organization has selected the book, "Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter," by local author Marsha Jordan, for the 2006 "Best of the Best Adding Wisdom Award." Parent to Parent is an internationally syndicated newspaper column associated with PBSKidsTV and the only award program to ever be honored by Disney.com.
According to the Parent to Parent web site, products must meet stringent standards and pass the tough criteria of a panel of experts from across the United States. These judges look for quality products that will be valuable resources for families. After the committees approve products, they are given to Family Testers, real families, for evaluation before final decisions are reached.
Jodie Lynn, syndicated parenting/health expert, radio personality, and author of the family/parenting book, "Mom CEO - (Chief Everything Officer) Having, Doing and Surviving It All," had this to say about Jordan's book:
"HUGS, HOPE and PEANUT BUTTER is a great book for parents, teachers, and patients in hospital and clinic waiting rooms. It recounts funny stories about everything from wild bears to pet pigs, which have all been a small comfort on any given day in avoiding an otherwise difficult experience associated with a stressful dilemma in everyday life. Our Family Testers found the book to be incredibly uplifting. It helped us to laugh at life as opposed to sitting down and crying over difficult challenges. Personally, I loved it and found Marsha to be a true inspiration!"
Jordan is thrilled with receiving the Adding Wisdom Award. She has spent years working with sick children and living with chronic pain herself. Through the humorous and thought-provoking essays in her book, she attempts to share with readers practical advice and coping strategies. "The purpose of my book is to entertain readers while uplifting and encouraging them," she says. "Having this goal recognized with Parent to Parent's Adding Wisdom Award is a great honor." Other winners of this award include PBS and Nestle's new web site for kids.
The Adding Wisdom Award is the only award program Disney has ever endorsed. "That's an amazing tribute to us and our winners," says Jodie Lynn, award founder. Lynn says the Parent to Parent organization is extremely proud of their mission to honor products that make a difference in the world by having a positive impact on society.
Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter is illustrated with 40 drawings by critically ill and injured children. The book is available for $15.95 at all book stores, as well as from the author's web site at www.hugsandhope.org or by calling 715-282-7271.
