Spintastik for the Family
Creative Approach to Parenting Brings Home Three Awards

PORTLAND, Maine— Spintastik for the Family presents a fun and fair way to assign house-hold chores. It is being recognized for its creative way to motivate kids and reward good behavior, and has recently been awarded an iParenting Media Award, a Parent To Parent Adding Wisdom Award, and one of ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year awards.

Spintastik, a hardcover book with a creative new way to designate chores, is an invaluable tool that allows the entire family to spin for chores. When chores are successfully completed, it’s time to give the wheel another whirl to spin to reward a job well done. It includes a 32-page guide outlining the different ways to “dish out” the chores, a full-color, 2-sided magnetic spinner board, 32 chore and reward pieces, and a spinner. The chores, which include ones appropriate for the whole family, are tasks like “fold laundry,” “pick up room,” and “clear table.” The rewards offer treats like “later bed time,” “pick a movie,” and “earn a buck.” It even includes three, 2-sided blank pieces and an erasable marker to write in your own chores and rewards. The authors have also included ideas for single parent families, families with older and younger children, city families and families living in rural areas.

The innovative way Spintastik builds responsibility and teamwork by turning chores into a game has generated success and lead to recognition. In January iParenting Media awarded the book with a 2006 Best Product award, in May Spintastik received notoriety by taking the silver in ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year awards for 2005 in the Parenting category, and in June 2006 it was announced that the book received an Adding Wisdom Award from the internationally syndicated parenting/family newspaper column Parent To Parent, under the categories of Parenting and Educational Products.

“Spintastik has really taken a creative approach to assigning chores around the house,” said Robin Haywood, publishing director for Ronnie Sellers Productions. “It truly is a terrific tool that makes a fun game out of teaching responsibility. Receiving the awards signifies the quality and value of this book.”
